Cookie Policy
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They allow websites to recognise your device on subsequent visits and remember certain information about your browsing session.
Cookies may be "persistent" – remaining on your device for a set period of time even after you close your browser – or "session" cookies, which are automatically removed once you close your browser. Cookie files do not contain executable code and cannot independently access your device or install software on it.
Website operator and cookie controller
The operator of the website majak.app (hereinafter the "website") and the controller of the cookies used thereon is the non-profit organisation Aplikace Maják, z.ú., registered office at Revoluční 762/13, 110 00 Prague 1, ID No.: 22449485 (hereinafter the "controller").
This policy applies exclusively to the majak.app website and does not apply to the Maják mobile application, whose data processing is governed by the separate Privacy Policy.
Types of cookies we use
On majak.app we use cookies divided into four categories based on their purpose:
Cookie inventory
Below is an overview of the cookies that the website currently uses or may use:
| Cookie name | Category | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|---|
| majak_cookie_consent | Strictly necessary | Stores your cookie consent or refusal | 12 months |
| _ga | Analytical | Distinguishes individual users (Google Analytics) | 2 years |
| _ga_* | Analytical | Maintains session state (Google Analytics) | 2 years |
| _gid | Analytical | Distinguishes users within a single day | 24 hours |
| _gat | Analytical | Throttles request rate to Google servers | 1 minute |
This inventory may be updated periodically when new tools are introduced or the website configuration changes.
Legal basis for processing
Strictly necessary cookies are processed on the basis of our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in ensuring the secure and functional operation of the website. Their use does not require your consent.
Analytical, functional and marketing cookies are processed only on the basis of your explicit consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) in accordance with applicable ePrivacy rules. You grant consent via the cookie banner displayed on your first visit and may withdraw it at any time.
Data transfers to third parties
Analytical data collected via Google Analytics is transferred to and processed by Google LLC, headquartered in the United States. The transfer is carried out in compliance with applicable transfer mechanisms (EU Standard Contractual Clauses). IP anonymisation is enabled, meaning Google does not process the full IP address of your device.
The controller does not sell, rent or otherwise disclose collected data to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Managing and withdrawing consent
Consent to optional cookies may be withdrawn or adjusted at any time. You have several ways to do this:
- Cookie banner on the website – on your first visit, or after clearing cookies, the website will display a banner where you can choose which cookie categories to allow.
- Browser settings – you can manage, block or delete cookies directly in your browser. The exact steps depend on your browser:
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Mozilla Firefox: Options → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Privacy, search, and services → Cookies and site permissions
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
Please note that blocking or deleting cookies may affect the website's functionality and your user experience. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be blocked in the browser without restricting the website's core functionality.
Cookie retention periods
The retention period of individual cookies depends on their type and purpose. An overview of the expiry of specific cookies is provided in the table in Section IV of this policy. Cookies are automatically deleted after their expiry period. Session cookies are always deleted when the browser session ends.
Your rights as a data subject
To the extent that cookies involve the processing of personal data (for example, analytical identifiers), you have the following rights as a data subject:
- Right of access – to obtain confirmation of whether we process your personal data and to access that data.
- Right to erasure – to request deletion of your personal data if you withdraw consent or the reason for processing no longer exists.
- Right to withdraw consent – to withdraw your consent to analytical or functional cookies at any time and without penalty (see Section VII).
- Right to object – to object to processing of personal data carried out on the basis of legitimate interest.
- Right to lodge a complaint – with a supervisory authority. In the Czech Republic this is the Office for Personal Data Protection (ÚOOÚ), Pplk. Sochora 27, 170 00 Prague 7, www.uoou.cz. You may also contact the supervisory authority in your country of habitual residence or place of work.
